The Kenko PL Fader is a Variable ND (Neutral Density) filter which is designed for use with DSLR and HD movie cameras. It uses two high-transparency polarizing film layers to control the amount of light that passes through the filter and into camera lens. By rotating the outer frame, any value of neutral density from NDX3 to NDX400 can be achieved. Without changing the aperture or ISO, the PL FADER allows the photographer freedom to dramatically reduce shutter speeds and achieve beautiful blurring of water and skies. It can even hide traffic and pedestrians from a busy scene. The Kenko PL FADER allows the shutter speed to remain constant and enables the use of a much wider aperture to easily create a blurred background effect. Even with a shutter speed of 1/8000sec, a large aperture of F1.4 or F1.2 can cause overexposure and highlight clipping. With the PL FADER, this overexposure can be eliminated. For HD video-enabled cameras, the PL FADER provides easily adjustable light control.
