The Laowa Proteus 2x Anamorphic 28 & 100mm T2 Lens Bundle from Venus Optics comprises two cinema lenses for capturing high-definition video with 2x anamorphic squeeze on cameras with S35+ sensors, such as the ALEXA 35 and RED V-RAPTOR. These anamorphic primes feature interchangeable PL and EF lens mounts, focus marks in feet, an aperture range of T2 to T22, 10 iris blades, a 2x anamorphic squeeze, a 114mm outer diameter, a 105mm front filter thread, and amber lens flares. Each lens has an ARRI PL lens mount that can be swapped out for the included EF mount bayonet, and the lenses come in a hard case.

The Laowa Proteus 2x Anamorphic 28mm T2 Lens from Venus Optics is a slender, compact anamorphic lens that captures high-definition video with 2x anamorphic squeeze on cameras with S35+ sensors such as the ALEXA 35 and RED V-RAPTOR. It features a focal length of 100mm, interchangeable PL and EF lens mounts, an aperture range of T2 to T22 for a deep depth of field, 10 iris blades for a shallow depth of field and soft bokeh, and a 2x anamorphic squeeze to capture a vintage, cinema-style anamorphic look. Using an optional 1.4x full-frame expander adapter, Proteus lenses can also cover a full-frame sensor.

The 28mm prime lens has a minimum focus distance of 18.9" and offers anamorphic qualities such as high contrast, amber lens flares, and a 85.6° horizontal field of view. Other features include measurement markings in feet, 0.8 MOD cine gears on the focus and aperture rings, a 114mm front diameter, and a 105mm filter thread. This lens includes PL and EF mounts, a hard case, a support foot, and a tool kit.

Constant 2x Squeeze Ratio

With a 2x squeeze ratio, this anamorphic lens produces a 2.66:1 on a 4:3 sensor and a 2.4:1 on a 6:5 sensor after de-squeezing. It provides room for cropping to a golden 2.39:1 aspect ratio. The 2x squeeze ratio yields an ultra-widescreen cinematic look desired by the film industry. The squeeze ratio remains constant at any focusing distance to avoid anamorphic mump effects.

Large Aperture

The fast T2 aperture enables filmmakers to shoot in low-light conditions. It also creates a shallow depth of field with a waterfall-like focus roll-off.

Sharpness

The Laowa Proteus Series satisfies demanding film production requirements with impressive sharpness and contrast at wide-open apertures.

Close Focusing Distance

The lens can focus at a minimum distance of 18.9" away from the object, easily creating sharp, close-up cinematic scenes.

Pleasant Bokeh

Elliptical bokeh is produced in the out-of-focus area, which is a signature, cinematic anamorphic character. The bokeh in 2x squeeze ratio is prominently thinner and longer.

Amber Anamorphic Flare Color

The amber effects create a warmer look that highlights the anamorphic style.

Low Focus Breathing

Both changes in the angle of view and framing are kept at a minimum when adjusting the focus.

Sensor Coverage

With S35+ sensor coverage, the Laowa Proteus series supports the ARRI ALEXA 35 sensor in a 2.39:1 ratio and the RED V-RAPTOR sensor in 7K 6:5 anamorphic. With an optional 1.4x full-frame adapter, the Proteus lenses can cover full-frame sensors with sharpness and image quality.

Unified Gear Position

The unified gear position allows users to switch lenses quickly and without readjustment on the focus gear.

0.8 MOD Gears

Industry-standard 0.8 MOD gears are installed on both the aperture and focus rings.

Flange Back Adjustment
